All rights reserved. doi:10.1016/j.vetimm.2006.08.013 Since that publication, a revised terminology has been proposed by the Nomenclature Review Committee of the World Allergy Organisation for use in allergic diseases of man (Johannson et al., 2004). A successor to the ACVD Task Force, now entitled The International Task Force on Canine Atopic...
متن کاملRett syndrome: revised diagnostic criteria and nomenclature.
OBJECTIVE Rett syndrome (RTT) is a severe neurodevelopmental disease that affects approximately 1 in 10,000 live female births and is often caused by mutations in Methyl-CpG-binding protein 2 (MECP2). Despite distinct clinical features, the accumulation of clinical and molecular information in recent years has generated considerable confusion regarding the diagnosis of RTT. The purpose of this ...
متن کاملDevelopment of a polymerase chain reaction-probe test for identification of Alloiococcus otitis.
A rapid polymerase chain reaction test was developed for specific identification of the human middle ear pathogen Alloiococcus otitis. Primers for the enzymatic amplification reaction were designed from highly specific sequences within the 16S rRNA gene. In addition, a confirmatory test based on hybridization of the polymerase chain reaction products to a specific internal probe was developed.
متن کاملPhylogenetic analysis of Alloiococcus otitis gen. nov., sp. nov., an organism from human middle ear fluid.
The partial 16S rRNA sequence of an unknown bacterium that was originally isolated from middle ear fluids of children with persistent otitis media was determined by reverse transcription. A comparison of this sequence with sequences from other gram-positive species having low guanine-plus-cytosine contents revealed that this bacterium represents a new line of descent, for which the name Alloioc...
متن کاملHigh incidence of Alloiococcus otitidis in children with otitis media, despite treatment with antibiotics.
Acute otitis media (AOM) and otitis media with effusion (OME) are common diseases in childhood. Alloiococcus otitidis is a newly recognized species of gram-positive bacterium which was recently discovered as a pathogen associated with OME. Although some studies show that A. otitidis is frequently detected in children with OME, no study is available concerning the clinical efficiency of antibiot...
